Dinamo VS Torpedo-Before the match

Dinamo Tbilisi will play XXV national championship X round match at Dinamo Arena against Torpedo Kutaisi. The match which is called Georgian classico will start at 17:00 and it will Channel 2 of the Public Broadcaster will ensure LIVE broadcast of the match. Traditionally official web-site of our club will offer text and video report of the match.

Our rival

FC Torpedo Kutaisi was established in 1946. Torpedo plays home matches at Kutaisi central stadium which envisages 19 400 spectators. After re-branding in the club main symbols of the club are in yellow and green colors. Torpedo Kutaisi reached the first serious success after three years of its establishment when it became the champion of national championship of that time. In 1960-1962 our rival played in Soviet championship zone B. On May 2, 1962 Torpedo played the first match of Soviet championship high league in Kutaisi. It competed with Torpedo Moscow and defeated it with the score 5:1. April 15, 1963 is one of the outstanding dates in the history of Torpedo stadium. On this day Torpedo Kutaisi and Dinamo Tbilisi competed with each other. The match finished with draw-0:0. 40 000 spectators attended this match and this figure is still record for Torpedo central stadium. 1970 season appeared to be unsuccessful for Torpedo Kutaisi. The team moved to Pirveli Liga from Umaghlesi Liga again and started the new season there.  In 1988 Torpedo returned to Umaghlesi Liga once more but in this period Georgia departed from USSR and the team continued to play in independent Georgian national championship. After Dinamo Tbilisi this club has become champion of Georgia for many times. In 1999-00 2000-01, 2001-02 Torpedo Kutaisi became champion for three times. 1998–99, 2000–01 the club won Georgian Cup as well. This was the best period in Torpedo’s history.

 

Coach and Torpedo

In June, 2013 Gerard Mulet Zaragoza was appointed as the head coach of Torpedo Kutaisi. He had worked in FC Locomotive Tbilisi Torpedo.  After preparation period Torpedo started to play on UEFA Europa League under the leadership of Gerard Mulet Zaragoza where the team wasn’t able to overcome MSK Zhilina and was defeated with the score 3:6 on aggregate. Currently the club is on the second place in national championship table. From 9 matches Torpedo won for 5 times and 4 matches finished with draw. In this season Torpedo Kutaisi is the only team which hasn’t lost any match after IX rounds.

Torpedo Kutaisi has played 10 official matches (9 in national championship and 1 on Georgian Cup) in the current season, from which it has won 5 matches (Zestafoni 2:3 Torpedo, Spartak 0:1 Torpedo, Torpedo 1:0 Guria, Torpedo 4:1 Wit Georgia, Merani 0:3 Torpedo) and 5 matches finished with draw (Torpedo 1:1 Metalurg, Torpedo 0:0 Dila, Zugdidi 0:0 Torpedo, Torpedo 2:2 Spartak, Torpedo 1:1 Sioni)

From 55 matches our team has won for 26 times, lost 15 and 14 matches finished with draw. The goal difference is 90:54 in favor of Dinamo Tbilisi. The last match that took place on May 4 in Tbilisi finished with the victory of our team-4:0. Jaba Dvali performed double in this match. Mikel Alvaro and Peter Grajciar also scored. After the victory against Torpedo Dinamo became the champion of 2012/2013 national championship.

XXV national championship X round match in which Dinamo Tbilisi will compete with FC Torpedo Kutaisi at Dinamo arena will be judged by 6 referees. Giorgi Vadachkoria will be the referee. Zaza Pipia and Davit Chigogidze will be his assistants. Jeneri Khorava and Giorgi Kruashvili will be additional referees. Arsen Nonikashvili will be the fourth official.
