Friendly match against Club Brugge

Club Brugge is one of the most ancient and titled clubs of Belgium, that was founded in 1891. It has become champion of Belgium for 13 times and won the Cup for 10 times. The gold time of Brugge was in 70s when the team was led by legendary Ernst Happel. Besides the success in Belgium, Brugge played in Champions Cup final (1978) and UEFA Cup final (1976) matches but the team was defeated by Liverpool in both matches. The best footballer of all times of the club Jan Ceulemans played in Brugge in those years. He was in the team during 13 seasons, played more than 400 matches and scored about 200 goals. Ceulemans is the records holder of Belgium national team with 96 goals.

The city of Brugge is represented by one more team -Cercle Brugge KSV in Belgian championship. Like Dinamo Tbilisi, this team is also on camp in Hoenderloo and prepares for the new season. Both Brugges play home matches at Jan Breydel stadium that is for 30 spectators.

Two footballers of Club Brugge play on World Cup 2014-Australian goalkeeper Mathew Ryan and Oscar Duarte from Costa Rica. Duarte was kicked off during penalty shots in 1/8 final against Greece.

Club Brugge is led by the famous Belgian goalkeeper M. Preud’homme. He was the substitute of Jean Marie Pfaff in Belgian national team for years. After Jean Marie Pfaff finished his career Preud’homme was one of the most reliable goalkeepers in Europe. He was acknowledged as the best goalkeeper on World Cup 1994. He was the head coach of Standard Liège, Gent and Twente.

Club Brugge won silver medals in the last season. Before starting the Belgian championship on July 26 the team played two matches. It defeated KSV Oudenaarde with the score 6:0 and played draw 1:1 with KVC Westerlo.
