Exactly 40 years ago in 1973, Dinamo won their first International tournament. After beating Athletic Madrid in semi-final (0:0 full time, 4:2 penalty shots) and Benfica in the final (3:1) one of the best teams of the time, Dinamo won the Columbus's Caravela Trophy. Before Dinamo Real Madrid, Athletic Madrid and San Paulo owned the trophy. The goals were scored by Gutsaev and Kipiani.
