On July 11, Dinamo Tbilisi will play the first leg match of UEFA Conference League first qualification round in Podgorica, the capital of Montenegro. FK Mornar Bari will compete with Dinamo.
Our web-page contacted 36-year-old Ilija Spasojević, former footballer of Dinamo, the forward of the youth team of Montenegro and the national team of Indonesia. Ilija Spasojević is well remembered by Dinamo fans. Montenegrin football player defended the honor of the capital team in 2007-2009 years. In the national championship, Ilija played 57 matches with Dinamo and scored 23 goals. Spasojević won the championship of Georgia together with Dinamo, lifted the trophy and became the winner of the Super Cup. Ilija was born in the city of Bar, the very city that our future rival Mornar represents.
First of all how are you Ilija. How is going your football carrier and plans for next season?
- I am fine thanks. Happy to talk to you Irakli, hope you're fine as well. I just finished the football season in Indonesia, last season I represented Bali United, the club with whom I won 2 league trophies in Indonesia. I am still not sure where I will play next season, I will make decision soon.
Georgian National team first time in history played at EURO. Your opinion (all this talented young guys - Kvaratskhelia, Chakvetadze, Mamardashvili, Lochoshvili, Kakabadze, Davitashvili and many others are from Dinamo Academy) also with Giorgi Loria and Guram Kashia you played in Dinamo.
- I was so happy to see Georgian NT to play EURO and to advance to knockout stages. Fact that most of the key players are coming from Dinamo Academy showing the quality work being done in Dinamo Academy throughout the years. Especially makes me happy to see Guram and Giorgi, my old friends who treated me like a brother once we played together in Dinamo and I will never forget that.
About your time in Dinamo Tbilisi. Tell us your memory about team, about city, about country.
- I have great memory of Dinamo Tbilisi, I was so young and it was my first time playing outside Serbia and Montenegro. It was difficult to move to foreign country at the time, but all my great teammates helped me to adapt and Tbilisi became my second home. I still remember everything... winning the League, winning the Cup, winning the Supercup... Playing Europe competition against big clubs Panathinaikos and Rapid Vienna. Really great memories which will last forever, and I hope I can visit Tbilisi and Georgia in the near future to relive some memories there.
After few days Dinamo gonna play UEFA Europa Conference League match against FK Mornar from Montenegro. Tell us a little bit about Montenegro teams, specially about Mornar and about chances.
- Makes me happy to see Mornar on the big stage, as it's the club from my birth city, Bar. Lately Mornar improved a lot in Montenegro League, but the fact is they lack experience in UEFA competitions, so I believe Dinamo Tbilisi is favorite for this clash. Sure will be interesting match.
