Our rival – Zorya Luhansk

On February 4, Dinamo will play the second friendly match against Ukrainian Zorya at the Turkish camp. The match will start in Lara at 17:30 Tbilisi time.

Zorya Luhansk was founded in 1923. The club changed its name for several times, initially it was called Metalist. Then there was Dzerzhinets, Labor Reserve and Zorya Malsi. The Luhansk team currently play their home matches in Zaporozhye, at the 12,000-seat Slavutych Arena. Zoria's club colors are white and black. 1972 is considered to be the best season of Zorya, when the Luhansk players managed to win the championship of the USSR and earned gold medals. Ukrainians played twice in the Crystal Cup finals in 1974 and 1975 and won silver medals both times. Our opponent repeated the same in the 2015/2016 and 2020/2021 seasons, when he conceded the final matches of the Ukrainian Cup. The black and white team finished the 2016-17, 2019/20, 2020/21 and 2022/23 seasons with bronze medals.

At the current camp, the Luhansk team has already played several matches. Ukrainians have been attending the camp since January 20. On January 12, Zorya lost the match against Krakow 0-2. On January 31, our future opponent played draw with Jagiellonia 2-2.

Zorya is managed by a 65-year-old Ukrainian football specialist Yuriy Koval.
