A regrettable loss in Georgian Cup ¼ final

Today Georgian Cup match was held in Zestafoni at the Davit Abashidze Stadium. FC Samgurali Tskaltubo hosted Dinamo Tbilisi in the ¼ final of the Davit Kipiani Cup.

The match started at an average pace and with the territorial advantage of the home team. The first real dangerous moment was created against Dinamo, on the 6th minute of the match, Giorgi Sulakvelidze hit the post. In response, in five minutes, Levan Shovnadze repelled Denis Bushnia's strong and dangerous corner kick. Methodically, the game was equalized and Dinamo gained control of the ball. After half an hour, Giorgi Kharaishvili's pass and Davit Skhirtladze missed chance to score. In the next attack, Lasha Odisharia's header hit the defender and eased the situation. On the 40th minute of the match, a free kick was awarded to Dinamo's goal, which Beka Dartsmelia successfully executed and the score was opened.

In the second half, the residents of the capital city actively renewed and equalized the score on the 51st minute. Davit Skhirtladze played technically, missed several opponents in the penalty area, passed the ball to Lasha Odisharia, who scored 1-1. After a while, the combination of Anzor Mekvabishvili and Saba Khvadagiani ended with Saba's inaccurate shot. On the 71st minute of the match, our team scored a goal, Giorgi Kharaishvili played with header, but the referee did not count the goal after checking the VAR. Nothing has changed in the main time and an additional 30 minutes has been appointed. In the first 15 minutes of extra time, the teams exchanged dangerous moments and in both cases the goalkeepers played well. The goal was not scored in the second extra time either, a series of penalty kicks was appointed after the match, in which Samgurali won with the score 5-3 and went to the semi-finals.

Andres Carrasco's team will hold the next match on October 29. Our team will compete with the same rival at the same stadium.
