He is the champion of 1978 Soviet championship, took the second place in 1977 and won the bronze medal twice in 1976 (spring-autumn). Phiruz Kanteladze is the winner of Soviet championship in 1976 and 1979 years. He was named among the best 33 players twice. In 1967 he won European youth championship. Phiruz Kanteladze died on November 10, 2019.
