Forward of Dinamo Tbilisi Giorgi Papunashvili became the footballer of SV Werder Bremen. Dinamo president and new player of Werder Bremen commented about the transfer.

These kinds of transfers are very important for the future of Georgian football. Papunashvili’s precedent will positively serve on the image of our football in Europe – this must stimulate every footballer of Dinamo and the academy and young players must know that their good playing and work won’t be unnoticed.
Many clubs were interested although we chose SV Werder Bremen. Financially we had better proposals than Werder offered but we think that level of football and life in Germany is the best precondition for development of a young player.
I wish Giorgi success on the new stage of life and I hope he will play as successfully in Bundesliga as he did in national championship.
Giorgi Papunashvili:
I spent the best five years in FC Dinamo Tbilisi, from them I played in first team for 2 years. Dinamo is one big family and it’s very emotional for me to leave them. Playing in Werder is a new stage of my life and I want to try myself in Bundesliga.
I also want to address academy children and tell them to work hard and bring honor for Dinamo and Georgia. My example proves that desire and devotion won’t be for nothing.
I thank every member of Dinamo Tbilisi for the years I spent here – president of the club Mr. Roman Pipia, my teammates, coaches and Dinamo fans who always supported me on the stadium and outside it. I hope everyone will be glad for my success and they will support me in Germany as well.
