FC Torpedo Kutaisi was established in 1946. Torpedo plays home matches at Kutaisi central stadium which envisages 19 400 spectators. After re-branding in the club main symbols of the club are in yellow and green colors. Torpedo Kutaisi reached the first serious success after three years of its establishment when it became the champion of national championship of that time. In 1960-1962 our rival played in Soviet championship zone B. On May 2, 1962 Torpedo played the first match of Soviet championship high league in Kutaisi. It competed with Torpedo Moscow and defeated it with the score 5:1. April 15, 1963 is one of the outstanding dates in the history of Torpedo stadium. On this day Torpedo Kutaisi and Dinamo Tbilisi competed with each other. The match finished with draw-0:0. 40 000 spectators attended this match and this figure is still record for Torpedo central stadium. 1970 season appeared to be unsuccessful for Torpedo Kutaisi. The team moved to PirveliLiga from UmaglesiLiga again and started the new season there. In 1988 Torpedo returned to UmaglesiLiga once more but in this period Georgia departed from USSR and the team continued to play in independent Georgian national championship. After Dinamo Tbilisi this club has become champion of Georgia for many times. In 1999-00 2000-01, 2001-02 Torpedo Kutaisi became champion for three times. 1998–99, 2000–01 the club won Georgian Cup as well. After 15 years our rival won Georgian Cup again. FC Torpedo Kutaisi defeated FC Merani Martvili with the score 2:1 in the last season finale.

Georgian football specialist Kakhaber Chkhetiani is the head coach of FC Torpedo Kutaisi since September 2016. Under his leadership our rival won Georgian Cup. It had to chance Super Cup as well, although lost with FC Samtredia. In the current season the team is on the second place with 51 points gained in 26 matches.

Torpedo lost with our team 0:2, played draw 0:0 with FC Saburtalo, defeated FC Shukura 1:0, FC Kolkheti 3:0, FC Locomotive 2:0, FC Dila 2:0, FC Samtredia 2:1, FC Chikhura 3:0 and FC Dinamo Batumi 1:0. After that Torpedo lost three matches with our team 2:1 and then on Europa League with the score 1:8 on aggregate. Torpedo won with FC Saburtalo and FC Shukura 2:1, played draw 0:0 with FC Kolkheti and lost with FC Locomotive 0:2, defeated FC Dila 2:1, draw with FC Samtredia 1:1 and lost with FC Chikhura 0:2. Our rival moved to Georgian Cup semi-final after defeating FC Shevardeni 2:1. Then it defeated FC Dinamo Batumi 5:0.

Our team defeated the rival with the score 2:1 with Giorgi Papunashvili’s goal and Davit Khurtsidze’s auto-goal.
