Tomorrow on November 1 Ramaz Shengelia stadium in Kutaisi will host Georgian Cup semi-final. Winner of Davit Kipiani Cup will host our team. Georgian derby will take place at 19:00.
Before the semi-final Dinamo defeated FC Algeti 2:0 in Georgian Cup 1/16 final and FC Samgurali Tskaltubo with the same score 2:0. Beka Mikeltadze and Bachana Arabuli scored. In quarter final Dinamo competed with FC Rustavi. Full time finished without goals and our team won with penalties 3:0. FC Torpedo defeated FC Sapovnela 2:0 with Nika Sabanadze’s and Giorgi Kimadze’s goals. Then defeated FC Samtredia with the same score. Giorgi Kukhianidze and Beka Tughushi scored. In ¼ final Torpedo competed with FC Shevadeni Tbilisi and won the match 2:1 with Levan Kutalia’s and Beka Tughushi’s goals.
These teams have competed on Georgian Cup for 10 times. Our team lost for the first time last year. Dinamo won 6 matches and 3 finished with draw. The goal difference is 17/8 in favor of our team.
For the first time it was on April 29, 1992. Semi-final match finished with the victory of our team 2:0. Gela Inalishvili and Kakha Kacharava scored. The second leg match took place in Kutaisi and finished with draw 1:1. Shota Arveladze scored. Next year these teams competed in semi-final again. The last Georgian derby on Georgian Cup took place on December 2, 2015 on quarter final stage. Our team won in Kutaisi with Giorgi Kvilitaia’s goal 1:0. On December 16 Dinamo defeated Torpedo with the score 2:1 in the second leg. Giorgi Kvilitaia and Mate Tsintsadze scored in the match held at Dinamo Arena. The last match between these teams on Georgian Cup took place on November 2, 2016. Semi-final finished with the victory of FC Torpedo 3:2. Jaba Jighauri performed double. It’s worth mentioning that Torpedo and Dinamo compete on Georgian cup for the third year already.
