The team started the new season with changes. Varlam Kilasonia was appointed as the head coach of FC Metalurgi Rustavi and important changes were made in the lineup as well. Metalurgi lost against Nebitci of Turkmenistan with the score 2:0 and played draw with Macedonian Turnovo-1:1. FC Metalurgi lost Georgian Cup quarter final match with our team 0:2. Then defeated Wit Georgia with the score 2:0 in national championship, played draw with FC Merani 0:0 and was defeated by Sioni with the score 0:2. Several days ago our rival defeated our team with the score 1:0.
Before quarter final our rival defeated FC Gagra 3:1 on aggregate (home 2:0 away 1:1) and FC Kolkheti Poti 5:1 on aggregate (home 2:0 away 3:1) in 1/8 final. In ¼ final first leg match our team defeated FC Metalurgi with the score 0:2. Xisco and Dzaria scored.
Dinamo and Metalurgi met each other in semi-final in the last season. FC Metalurgi won the first leg with the score 2:1 in Rustavi but Dinamo scored 5 unanswered goals in the second leg at Dinamo Arena.
