Today is the birthday of one of the outstanding and legendary footballers of Georgian football and Dinamo Tbilisi-Shota Iamanidze. Captain of our team would turn 84 years old. He played in Dinamo Tbilisi in 1954–1967 years. In 393 matches he scored 91 goals. In 1964 he was the captain of our team in Tashkent in the gold match. In 1964 Iamanidze became the champion of Soviet Championship. In 1959, 1962 and 1967 he won the bronze medal. In 1960 he was the finalist of the championship. Iamanidze appeared among the best 33 footballers for three times, among them once as number one player. He played two matches in Soviet Olympic team. He is the honorable master of sports. Shota Iamanidze died on October 15 in a car accident at the age of 34.
