From Dinamo’s history

On October 1, 1961 Dinamo Tbilisi hosted Spartak Yerevan in Soviet championship second stage VI round match. 35 000 spectators attended the match at Burevestnik (current Mikheil Meskhi) stadium. The match was strained and interesting. Referee Nikolai Latishev didn’t consider 2 goals that irritated the spectators and they started to throw different things on the field. Latishev stopped the match. The score was 3:1 in favor of Spartak Yerevan and our team lost the match. Dinamo took the seventh place in that season.

Dinamo’s legendary footballer Vladimer (Sioma) Barkaia remembers the match: The match was very strained. Referee Nikolai Latishev didn’t consider 2 goals of our team. Spectators on the stadium started to protest and finally the referee fled to dressing-room. After the incident referee was accompanies to Vnukovo airport. Disciplinary commission recorded our loss in this match.
