The 95th Georgian derby, held today at Dinamo Arena, ended with Dinamo’s 50th victory.
Dinamo hosted Torpedo in Erovnuli Liga 17th round and defeated their main rival 2-0 with full control of the game. Moldovan goalkeeper Stepan Sikach returned to our team, but the team was missing the disqualified Jaba Kankava and the injured Vako Gvilia, Mate Vatsadze and Nikoloz Ugrekhelidze.
Dinamo gained the advantage from the very beginning and took the lead on the 8th minute. Tornike Morchiladze accurately and measuredly shot the ball into the far corner of the goal, making it 1-0. Dinamo scored the second goal on the 52nd minute. Léo Assunpção headed the ball into the far post from Nika Ninua's corner, making it 2-0. In addition, Dinamo had a number of tense and goal-scoring episodes, but no more goals were scored.
After the match, the situation on the field between the teams became tense and eventually the referee sent 9 players off the field. Giorgi Kruashvili showed red cards to 5 Dinamo players and 4 Torpedo players.
Vladimer Kakashvili's team will play their next match on May 28 in Gori, against the local FC Dila.
