Today Vladimer Barkaia, forward of Dinamo Tbilisi during the first championship has turned 83 years old. He was born in Gagra in 1937. In 1957-1967 he played in Dinamo Tbilisi. In 297 matches, Barkaia scored 108 goals. He is the champion of 1964 Soviet Union Championship and prize owner for two times in 1959 and 1962. He was named as the second footballer among 33 best footballers in 1964. Vladimer Barkaia played in Soviet Union national team twice (against Denmark and Brazil) and scored 2 goals. In 1967-1969 he was Dinamo Tbilisi’s coach.
