Torpedo vs Dinamo – Before the match

On Saturday October 17 Dinamo Tbilisi will compete with FC Torpedo Kutaisi. XXVII national championship VIII round will start at 15:00 at Ramaz Shengelia stadium in Kutaisi. Our rival

FC Torpedo Kutaisi was established in 1946. Torpedo plays home matches at Kutaisi central stadium which envisages 19 400 spectators. After re-branding in the club main symbols of the club are in yellow and green colors. Torpedo Kutaisi reached the first serious success after three years of its establishment when it became the champion of national championship of that time. In 1960-1962 our rival played in Soviet championship zone B. On May 2, 1962 Torpedo played the first match of Soviet championship high league in Kutaisi. It competed with Torpedo Moscow and defeated it with the score 5:1. April 15, 1963 is one of the outstanding dates in the history of Torpedo stadium. On this day Torpedo Kutaisi and Dinamo Tbilisi competed with each other. The match finished with draw-0:0. 40 000 spectators attended this match and this figure is still record for Torpedo central stadium. 1970 season appeared to be unsuccessful for Torpedo Kutaisi. The team moved to Pirveli Liga from Umaghlesi Liga again and started the new season there.  In 1988 Torpedo returned to Umaghlesi Liga once more but in this period Georgia departed from USSR and the team continued to play in independent Georgian national championship. After Dinamo Tbilisi this club has become champion of Georgia for many times. In 1999-00 2000-01, 2001-02 Torpedo Kutaisi became champion for three times. 1998–99, 2000–01 the club won Georgian Cup as well.

Coach and Torpedo 

Tomorrow FC Torpedo will play with new coach. Ukrainian football specialist Olexander Shtelin will manage the team. Shtelin returned to FC Torpedo after 12 years. Under his leadership the team played four matches on European qualifying stage and 14th national championship.

Before Dinamo

FC Torpedo started national championship with victory against FC Merani 4:0 that was followed by victory with FC Chkhirimela Kharagauli 2:1 in Georgian Cup 1/16 final. After that was draw with FC Zugdidi 1:1 and one more victory in Georgian Cup second leg match 4:0. Kutaisi lost with FC Dila Gori 0:2, played draw with FC Dinamo Batumi 1:1, defeated FC Chiatura 1:0 in Georgian Cup 1/8 final. Then was victory with FC Kolkheti Poti 1:0, loss with FC Tskhinvali 1:3 and FC Chikhura 0:3.


Dinamo vs Torpedo - Head to head

Dinamo VS Torpedo is called “Georgian classico” and it always raises interest in society as both teams do their best. On Saturday Dinamo Tbilisi will play 60th match against Torpedo Kutaisi.

From 59 matches our team has won for 30 times, lost 15 and 14 matches finished with draw. The goal difference is 104/58 in favor of Dinamo Tbilisi.

Dinamo Tbilisi has defeated FC Torpedo with the score 5:1 for 2 times in national championship. For the first time it was on April , 1991 in IV round of II national championship and on September 17, 1995 in III round of XVII national championship. Our team won with four goal difference last year in VIII round match of 2nd stage. The match finished with the score 4:0. On August 27, 2000 Dinamo was defeated with the score 0:3 in II round of XII national championship. Our team has won with the biggest score in Kutaisi. On March 17, 2007 Dinamo defeated Torpedo with the score 5:0 in XVII round match of XVIII national championship. On May 4, 2013 our team defeated the rival with the score 4:0 at Dinamo Arena and became champions of Georgia in this match.

Dinamo and Torpedo has competed with each other for 26 times in Soviet championship. IN Soviet championship Dinamo won 13 matches against Torpedo, lost for 4 times and 9 matches finished with draw. The goal difference is 38/21 in favor of Dinamo Tbilisi. Our team has won with the score 3:1 for three times. These matches took place on April 26, 1996, on May 26, 1969 and on May 25, 1962. On July 31, 1968 Torpedo defeated Dinamo with the score 4:2. On November 30, 1966 Torpedo VS Dinamo finished with draw-3:3 in Kutaisi.

The last match that took place on May 2, 2015 in Tbilisi finished with the victory of our team-3:2. Lasha Totadze, Giorgi Papunashvili and Jaba Jighauri scored.

Torpedo vs Dinamo – Referee

Levan Kvaratskhelia will judge Georgian derby tomorrow. L.Varamishvili and Z. Pipia will be his assistants. A. Nonikashvili and D.Sanodze will be additional assistants. A.Baslehlo will be the fourth official.

The last match Levan Kvaratskhelia judged was held on October 3 Sapovnela 2:1 Locomotive. Kvaratskhelia booked players for four times in this match.
