40 years ago on November 5 FC Dinamo Tbilisi won Soviet championship for the second time in it’s history. Nodar Akhalkatsi’s team competed with FC Locomotive in Moscow and finished the match without goals. This result was enough to celebrate championship. In 1978 Dinamo gained 17 victories, lost for 5 times and scored 45 goals. Ramaz Shengelia became bombardier of the championship with 15 goals. 7 footballers of Dinamo appeared in the list of 33 best footballers (Dato Kipiani, Manuchar Machaidze, Vladimer Gutsaev, Davit Gogia, Vitali Daraselia, Ramaz Shengelia and Piruz Kanteladze). Ramaz Shengelia was named as the best footballer of the year. Dinamo reserve team finished 1978 year championship with gold medals as well.
