On October 3, 1979 Dinamo Tbilisi hosted the best team of Europe of that time Liverpool FC in the second leg of UEFA Champions Cup 1/16 final. (The first leg match at Anfield finished with the victory of English club-2:1. Johnson, Case and Chivadze scored goals.) Dinamo Tbilisi won the second leg match with the score 3:0 at Dinamo stadium. It was raining heavily and 90 000 spectators attended the match. It happened for the first time that one of the best clubs of the world left European tournaments in the first qualifying round.
